Tough Guy

Hi Guy's. Just found this tough little beetle on my Parsley. Dark coloured. About 1.5 cm in length. Has wings but doesn't seem to want to use them for flying. Not sure if he didn't come from the trees at the rear of my property. Seems to have a shield shaped head but I know it isn't a shield bug. Searched my insect book but no sign of anything remotely like it. I have placed the pic into the Library, so if any learned member could advise me as to what I have here I would be so grateful. Go to the top of Forums, go into the second line down and look for the instruction for down loading onto your thread. Hope this helps

Okay I managed to upload the photo and can see it in the Images Library. Have also got three of the same in my personal photo slot and cannot see how to delete the two that are surplus. Shucks, am I making a right mess of it? Just hope that you lovely people can find that photo and help me identify this charming little beetle. Regards Walt.

I'm not sure how to retrieve other peoples pictures but if you go to library pics on post thread and then my pictures, then the writing at the top says click on the pic once to add to your thread. It looks like a load of letters until you post your thread. I always seem to go around in circles until I get there in the end.

It looks like a Tenebrionid beetle to me.

Yes. It does seem to be one of the Tenebrionids. Been having a look at them and they do seem to come in a great many different shapes and sizes, colours too. Really pleased that so many members have come forwards to help me on this. Many thanks. Regards Walt.
