| | | Is it poss to say Lasioglossum morio? I found a pic looking like this, but are there lots of tiny wee greenish bees like it? It had a very dithery kind of flight. Help would be appreciated. |

| | | Re: Is it poss to say Lasioglossum morio? Having found a thread between Jason and Stuart I can see there's at least one other similar (always assuming I'm in the right neck of the woods, hmmm) but clearly L. morio and L. smeathmanellum are pretty similar. I'm having difficulty (putting it mildly) deciphering the thread and which bits are being looked at. But I'll add two more angles just in case they're helpful! And sizewise I'd say 5mm. |

| | | Re: Is it poss to say Lasioglossum morio? Its a male (hence the long antennae). We can rule out L. leucopus as that has white tarsi. It is extraordinarily unlikely to be L. cupromicans (a more northern insect, common in urban environments in cities like Leeds). That would leave L. smeathmanellum and L. morio. I wouldn't attempt to separate them from pics. I'd need to see details of the labrum for starters! |

| | | Re: Is it poss to say Lasioglossum morio? Thank you very much Stuart. I panicked when I noticed the very long segment (is it the scape) in some pics and realised this was very different. But that's very encouraging - L. smeathmanellum or L. morio will do very nicely! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
