| | | Green insect on bedroom ceiling It's wingless, six long legs and two even longer antennae. Body is about 1" long and it moves quite quickly. During daylight it stays relatively still. I took two photographs of it if anyone needs them for identification. I guess the main question is, will it eat us?? I've not been able to find it on any websites so far. |

Any chance you could post the photos? Hopefully it hasn't eaten you already

Could it be a Speckled Bush-cricket.
Which will not eat you and furthermore does not produce maneating spawn of some kind. It would be nice to see the photos.

| | | Re: Green insect on bedroom ceiling My first thought was a bush cricket too, so far I have found two in my house this year and both have been on the ceiling and no, they made no attempt to eat me so I think you are safe! |

I hope this works. I've looked at your bush cricket but it doesn't come close. I should point out that I live in South-East England. Thank you all for your interest. |

| | | Re: Green insect on bedroom ceiling Now I've looked at a greater range of pics I agree, it does look like a bush cricket. Riddle solved. I guess I should be thankful it was quiet! |

Nige | Not quite- these are fully winged.
It's a male Southern Oak Bush-cricket which is a recent invader that is doing very well in the Home counties + beyond now. |
