Mirid ID : Leptopterna ferrugata?

Hello,

I have uploaded some images ofa mirid bug found at Thongsleigh Woods in Mid Devon last week. They were on a grass seed head. I believe these might be Leptopterna ferrugata. Is anyone here able to comment on them please?

I think the two species are very similar from photos, Andrew.

Hello Geoff,

Yes, I do use British Bugs and used that to derive this conclusion but I was wary of basing my identification on online images whilst unaware of confusion species.

With the passing of time and more research I am quite confident these are L. ferrugata now.

yes, these are certainly L. ferrugata. Usually in drier habitats than L. dolabrata. You know your website must be popular when it gets banned by WAB
