| | | Miner bee with odd "extra" on it's head Took these photos of a small miner bee on a merguerite flower but noticed it had an odd spiky appendage on it's head- not sure if it's just debris or something else but it does remind of something i've seen before and cannot find the shot.
Any thoughts ?- the 2nd shot is a crop of the first.

It looks like some kind of pollen grain to me.

| | | Re: Miner bee with odd "extra" on it's head Thanks for the ideas Rob and Jason - suspect it might be pollen. Eventually remembered what I thought it could of been- Laboulbeniales - a very odd fungus group that grown on bugs but don't think it is that.
