The only photo I have and at a bad angle sorry but worth a shot, all dark possibly Bombus campestris? Chalk grassland Northamptonshire.

From what I can see of the rear leg, there doesn't appear to be a pollen basket – that coupled with the smoky wings and the all-black colouration, I would tend to agree with you on Bombus campestris. Maybe one of the experts will "bee" along later ...  |

Cheers Jez, I am trying to get a bit better at bee identification and photos help, although I find it hard to get a good shot of bees, they don't sit still for long!

I think this one will have to go down as "Bombus sp." - from the photo there is no way to get any further with the ID. |
