Grasshopper - possibly meadow

Is this a meadow grasshopper please? Photos were taken in South Hants.

Hi Catbee

It isn't Meadow Grasshopper but most likely a Field Grasshopper nymph.

I can see where you are coming from with Meadow Grasshopper ,as the female has relatively small wings,the wings on your grasshopper here are just not fully developed yet.

Meadow Grasshopper,Chorthippus parallelus has almost parallel sides to the pronotum,where as Field Grasshopper is deeply indented.

It would be best if I edited your picture Cat,to give you an idea.I have drawn a blue line ,to show how deeply indented the edge of the pronutum is on Field Grasshopper.

Many thanks for the very helpful response. You were right - the small wings made me guess meadow. To be honest I did not know that they grew their wings in that manner. I think I had better do some reading!
