| | | Shield bug instars Found these two near each other. Are they the same species?

| | | Re: Shield bug instars Thanks, you were right. They are a 2nd and 5th instar - didn't know about these bugs before but seem to have quite a few around my garden.

| | | Re: Shield bug instars I think I might have another image that may fit in to this!
Am I right in thinking this is a common green shieldbug in it's 3rd instar?
Thanks,

| | | Re: Shield bug instars Does that make this a green shield bug 4th instar too? I usually just see the complete green ones in my garden but this one looked more interesting.

| | | Re: Shield bug instars For the later instars, look at how large the wing buds are... actually, I'd say this is another 5th instar, looking again - they should be smaller in the 4th. Yes, Ashe's paintings are a fine piece of work, and probably the best handy guide to them that's easily available. |

| | | Re: Shield bug instars I have seen those paintings before. For some reason I can't add the links but you can find it all on a yahoo search. Each instar is drawn for the individual shieldbug species, very inciteful. The forum will not allow me to name the website?
I use these regularly, they are very helpful!!!
