| | | Harvestman ID help please! Hello all - caught this specimen on my shed door yesterday. Very small - body length between 2 - 3 mm, longest leg about 20mm. Anybody got any ideas as to genus/species? |

| | | Re: Harvestman ID help please! Well this one has beaten me, Jez. Although I wonder if it might be a juvenile?
My first thought was Phalangium opilio but they have fairly long legs. Over 30 mm.
Alternatively, Paroligolophus agrestis. The leg length fits better and males are quite small at 3 to 4 mm. The faint mid line stripe also looks good. But the ocularium seems too heavily 'fortified' and possibly the wrong shape.
So, even with that very clear and close photo, I can't quite reach an answer.
Perhaps somebody else has a few suggestions. |

| | | Re: Harvestman ID help please! Thanks for the attempt, Geoff! I wondered if it was a juvenile, as I did some research myself and couldn't pin it down to any particular species. It seems to match some characteristics but not others. Do you know of any specialist Opiliones sites on the internet that might help? |

| | | Re: Harvestman ID help please! That link is to the book which I use. But the trouble with their keys, and most ID keys when working from a photo, is that you soon run into something which cannot be seen. Usually the pedipalps.
This Harvestman site may also be useful Opiliones |
