The short forewings point me to ID ing this as a Meadow Grasshopper, or at least I hope it is.
I used a 105mm Sigma macro lens, took loads of shots to get a few decent ones, any tips on a better hit rate or is this "normal practice ?"
I set the distance then rocked the tripod mounted camera forwards until the grasshopper became focused, windy conditions didn't help though.
Shutter fired with a wireless cable release.

The colours can be very variable and its best to look at physical features with these species.
