Tachnid? id please
interesting looking green eyed creature kept buzzing around me today and then landed on my wellies. Any ideas?

I'm certainly no expert on these but I reckon that is a horsefly.

Possibly one of the Chrysops species.

I do have ID keys for these but it may be quicker to wait for a real expert.

No its a horsefly, female Chrysops looks like C.relictus, lucky you didnt get bitten.
