Can anyone help with an ID of this one please? Its not one Ive seen in my garden before.

Sticking my neck out here could possibly be the Bacchini I will be corrected if am wrong but that way an learning myself.

Afternoon Widiot (What's behind the name?) and Hawkess!

It's a female Sphaerophoria species, and since males other than S. scripta are only do-able on genitalia the ladies can't be done photographically or otherwise.

It is quite a dark specimen, Ladyhawk, so I can see why you thought it might be one of the Bacchini tribe. But the yellow scuttellum is the first clue which points in the general direction of Syrphini.
