What is it please? Hoverfly or predator or both

My wife Margaret spotted this chap basking in the sun as we walked around a lake so she had to take a photograph.

I have attempted to identify it but would be glad of more expert opinion please.

It's only a predator if you are a Narcissus bulb.

What an amazing discovery. How on earth did it get there apart from flying as there are no bulbs like that as far as I know in that area although come to think about it in Spring there are drifts of daffodils so maybe that has drawn it.
