Post Wood eating caterpillar
I have noticed today a number of cocoons between the gaps in my timber decking. The cocoons are very tough and contain either single or multiple live larvae. The caterpillars have a yellow underside and are brownish green on top. The heads are shiny chestnut brown and the larvae are 12 - 14 mm in length. The larvae have eaten hollows into the timber of the decking but not bored into it. Has anyone any ideas as to what these might be?
