| | British status of Chalcid wasp 'Brachymeria tibialis'? Morning all,
Whilst beating a single hawthorn tree growing in an open sub-lit acid-grassland environment a single 8mm-or-so Chalcid wasp dropped in. On checking it against various Internet references it would appear to be Brachymeria tibialis.
What is this species' British status? I gather it's somewhat of a rarity, and would make a great record for the site.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: British status of Chalcid wasp 'Brachymeria tibialis'? As far as I see there are only 3 previous records for this species in the UK, so it doesn't actually have any conservation status applied to it. With something like this you would need to get it confirmed by an expert, Mark Shaw up at Edinburgh Museum would be your best bet. He is retired, but I think he still goes into the museum. |

| | | Re: British status of Chalcid wasp 'Brachymeria tibialis'? Thanks Matt. I have the specimen with me here, just setting at the moment. I'll contact the museum with a view to sending.
Is it native and genuinely rare, or new to the UK?
