Calopteryx splendens - Banded Demoiselle a damselfly species.

Agree. It's an adult male, the female , a metallic green is a totally different looking insect.

It was seeing this species that got me into Odonata. I correctly identified the male, but thought the female was a different species. Bob Gibbons excellent photo guide was my first field guide to them (not much around then).
