| | | ID of beetle? Please Hi
Our kitchen appears to have been invaded by these little critters they are very small approx 2mm in length and we have found them in the bread bin and in various other areas.
Pic here
This is about as close as I can get with my camera.
I hope someone can help
Thanks

That's actually a domestic Barklouse - a common household resident.
Take care, Jason |

Take care, Jason | Are you sure it's not a Varied Carpet Beetle?

| | | Re: ID of beetle? Please Hi,
the picture is to small to say anything exact, but I guess Jason is right. The insect in the picture is pushed and flattened so it looks more round than it usually is. A Carpet Beetle I guess would look much different.
But as I told, it is hard to say by this photo and there is a possibility that Janet is right.
Regards
Klaas

| | | Re: ID of beetle? Please I think the head is at the bottom, the head looks far too small for a psocod and the body is too rounded. That's what I'm seeing anyway.
This is your typical indoor psocod.. even if it was an outdoors type, they are long and narrow as a general rule. Psocid Infestations in Straw Bale Homes | StrawBale.com
Compare the shape of the Varied Carpet Beetle.. http://www.happypestcontrol.com/carp...-san-diego.php

The photo seems to stretch sideways after cropping it.. but it hasn't when uploaded here. I see the pic I have cropped has stretched to make it look narrower than in the original, maybe an effect of the very wide strectching sideways I was getting.
