Bizarre flying insect for ID.
I just saw this critter in my garden in Somerset and I've never seen anything like it before! I was thinking maybe some sort of parasitic or gall wasp, or ichneumon?

Cool pictures, I saw one of these flying around a tree in my garden but it wouldn't sit still for a photo, I didn't know what it was until I saw your thread
