Fly confirmation please

Hi folks, could anyone confirm ( or otherwise) that this is a Tabnidae family-Haematopota Pluvialis please

I'd say that you're right with Haematopota but, as far as I know, H. pluvialis and H. crassicornis are separated by a close view of the antenna. That said I think pluvialis is the more common.

BTW did you notice it's eyes? Great patterns.

BTW 2 (for anyone who doesn't know) Haematopota pluvialis is latin for blood drinker of the rains (roughly) which is a great name)

BTW 3 These things are one of the banes of my life when working outside.

Hi Gerel, that`s great info thanks. We sat going through the Diptera info Gallery for an hour to get to this one, why is the one you are after is always near the end

The eyes are amazing aren`t they.
I hope you will not get bit too much
