Hoverflies -confirmation or ID please

The first I think is Merodon equestris, but the second???

The second one is definitely a strange looking 'hoverfly' which won't appear in any decent book.

It's a bee. Check the long antennae.

But deciding which bee is going to be difficult from that angle.

ps. apart from the antennae check the wing veins against any hoverfly. Particularly the 'wing tip cross veins'.

Agree with Merodon, the second, however, is a bee as you can confirm if you look at the wing's venation. My guess is a faded and old Bombus lapidarius worker.
