| | Another fly for ID Hello again,
Today I found this fly in my Norfolk garden which had stumbled into a spider web. I placed him in a plastic container so I could grab my camera then took off the lid and started snapping pictures as he climbed out. It was about 12mm in size.
Does it have mouthparts? I can't see any.
Thank you for looking!

| | | Re: Another fly for ID Afternoon Anz,
It's a Stilleto Fly - Theridiidae family. As for species - no idea! I think males are genitalically-resolved.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Another fly for ID The one I have, and I think is most common, is Thereva nobilitata which has golden hairs until they get worn. They can be dertermined if you can see the leg bristles etc. This is a female.
