| | | Is this a Violet Carpenter Bee? I photographed this large black bee on Sage flowers in my vegetable garden in SW Suffolk this morning. The bee was a very fast and strong flyer, but returned again and again to the Sage flowers.
I it may be a Violet Carpenter Bee, Xylocopa violacea
Can anyone confirm the ID?
Photos here and here.
Thank you
