Is this a Violet Carpenter Bee?
I photographed this large black bee on Sage flowers in my vegetable garden in SW Suffolk this morning. The bee was a very fast and strong flyer, but returned again and again to the Sage flowers.


I it may be a Violet Carpenter Bee, Xylocopa violacea
Can anyone confirm the ID?

Its a bumblebee and I suspect it may be Bombus ruderatus, which has is well known to have black individuals
