I came across this little chap on a rabbit warren this afternoon. He was about 35mm long and was carrying plenty of lice on his underside.

Any idea?

I don't know what he is but Yuk! I didn't even know beetles got lice.

Nicrophorus (or Necrophorus) humator I think, one I see most years now.

The 'lice' are mites, they hitch a ride to where the beetles nest underground on dead animals.
