robber fly ?

Hello,

I think it's a robber fly - is it possible to know which one from this photo? Didn't get as close as I'd have liked.



They always seem to be leaning over sideways.

Well the easy bit is that it is an Asilidae family member but they are a bit tricky to fully identify.

It superficially looks a bit like Dysmachus trigonus although there are several Machimus species which are similar so I wouldn't like to give any positive suggestions without checking the keys. And I'm not sure I would get a positive result from that photo.

Perhaps one of our fly experts will instantly recognise it.
