Can any one identify this beetle we saw on a cliff walk in Sark?
Thanks,

| | | Re: Green metalic beetle i think this is a rose chafer. we get loads in our garden and they buzz about like daft old noisy things bumping into everything.
I think the noble chafer is much rarer and has a equilateral triangle at the top of it's wing cases
whereas the rose chafer has a longer triangle
(all found out when I thought i'd seen a noble one, as they're very rare apparently) |

| | | Re: Green metalic beetle Agreed - a rose chafer. A noble chafer has a more defined waist between the thorax and abdomen.
Still a great find!!! |

| | | Re: Green metalic beetle Good evening everybody,
Cetonia aurata (rose chafer) should be right, but there is a very small possibility for an aberration of Protaetia (cuprea) metallica if this one occurs in the UK. What I want to say is, that we would need this photo much more detailed. I would need to see the knees of the beetle to be sure.
Regards
Klaas
