Cranefly - Ctenophora pectinicornis?
S. Devon woods near the sea. 31/05/11.

After using some ID Keys, I think this might be Ctenophora pectinicornis but it is quite possible that I have gone wrong.



This is yet another new species to me so a confirmation or correction would be appreciated.

It looks good for Ctenophora pectinicornis. I had one last year that was id for me on here...quite stunning ain't they.

Thanks for the confirmation, Chris.

Initially, with that 'upturned tail' I didn't have a clue what it was; and my first thoughts were some sort of ichneumon. Then I had a good look on the computer screen and the 'penny dropped'.

I assume there must be more than one around so I will keep watch in that area.
