Orange Fly - Psila fimetaria possibly?

Following on from Bruce's similar question and using keys suggested by Janet, I suspect this is probably Psila fimetaria.

S. Devon. A couple of different locations but both narrow blackthorn lined paths.



The close up photo shows a dark mark at the base of the arista but I would appreciate a more informed opinion.

I can see the dark spot Geoff, it looks just like mine! I managed to get a side shot which was not as close as I would have liked, it flew to the side of the garage but at least I got one and the dark spot is visible.

This was on 27th May, it landed on a ground elder leaf below me while I was filling a watering can from a water barrel behind my garage (with camera hung around my neck!) I usually find them in sheltered locations in semi-shade.

Thanks for that; it looks like we have an answer then.

And both my sightings were under overhanging foliage.
