Brown moth thing

This is a nice looking moth. Its got large eyes so I am assuming its nocturnal. It would not open its wings no matter how much I threatened it. Anyone know what it is?

The distinction between moths + butterflies is somewhat artificial + some entomologists are as close to other butterfly families as some other moth families. They do have the clubbed antennae of butterflies but a few moths such as burnets also show this feature.
