It's a Blue-tailed Damselfly (immature female form rufescens)

Excellent, many thanks wint. They're one of the commonest damselflies aren't they?

Yes - one of the commonest and most widespread. They don't seem to mind brackish water or 'grubby' sites.

Many thanks wint, it was seen about 50 feet from a canal which probably isn't amazingly clean.
