| | | ID : Limax maximus? Evening,
This slug was discovered under a log yesterday at Dawlish Warren. I think this could be Limax maximus but am not quite convinced so is anyone able to point me in the right direction?
Regards,
Andrew. |

| | | Re: ID : Limax maximus? The spotting on the mantle and the not so prominent keel etc looks good for L. maximus (not 100% if this spotting on the mantle can be found in L. cinereoniger).
A look at the sole will usually help to determine this from L. cinereoniger...L. maximus will have a pale sole while L. cinereoniger will mostly have a dark outer sole with a pale centre. The Black Keel Back Slug The Leopard Slug (Limax maximus)

Regards Chris... | Evening Chris,
It certainly looks better for Limax maximus. Hopefully I will be able to see it or one again this Friday if I can turn the same log over again and find it. I will then check the undersole.
Cheers,
Andrew. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
