| | | Red-tailed bee mimic hoverfly - ID help Hi all,
Found this interesting hoverfly earlier. Thought it was an Osmia bee from behind but it is a hoverfly.
Possibly from the Criorhina genus? Any help would be appreciated.

The looped vein in the wing rules out Volucella or Criorhina. The dark legs rule out Eristalis intricarius.
The ventral, apical projection on the hind leg, seen in the last picture, confirms this species.
