Hi,
I found this large(ish) bettle outside my house this morning in Cheshire. It was about 4cm long. I've tried to determine what it was, and the closest I got was a Cockchafer, except it didn't have any antennae. Does anyone know what it is?

It is a Cockchafer, the antennae are either hanging down or they got detached somehow!

Why did you doubt that it was a cockchafer? That`s what it is.

Dave, sometimes it's difficult to remember how unsure we were ourselves in the days when we didn't know much about anything.
