Ichneumon wasp - species?
I watched this Ichneumon wasp creep up on a caterpillar on the end of an oak branch. I have tried and failed to even assign this wasp to a family. I understand they are difficult to identify but can anyone get any closer than just Ichneumon wasp?

Evening Mari,

This is an Ichneumon Wasp as you say, and probably from the Anomalinae sub-family. As for species, it would require a specimen, microscope and a good knowledge-base of their morphology.
