| | | ID : Two Sawfly species. Morning WAB,
I have attached three images showing two Sawfly species I would like to ask for help with. The first two within this post I thionk might be closely related to Megalodontes klugii that I see in my Chinery book. As for the second species shown in the following post I am entirely clueless about it.
Regards,
Andrew.

The first is actually a Mason Wasp, sub-family Eumeninae of the Vespidae family - note the constricted abdomen/thorax join. I think it could be an Odynerus/closely-allied group - but would need to look it up - rather tired at the moment!
Did you collect it? You sometimes do, and these are best keyed - though not sure if the antennae have a certain something to them.
The last is a Sawfly, yes - but can't help there.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: ID : Two Sawfly species. Andrew. The first one certainly looks superficially like Odynerus spinipes but they are a tricky group.
The sawfly would appear to be a correct match for Tenthredo celtica. The yellow band increases in width at the sides. But, once again, sawflies are always a bit uncertain unless you can fully follow the ID keys. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
