Are these both picture-winged flies? and what genus/species
1. Taken at College Lake BBOWT Reserve, near Tring on 14th May 2011 
2. Taken at Cowley, Middlesex on 15th May 2011

The first one is Urophora cardui - responsible for the flask shaped galls on the stems of Cirsium arvense |

2dogs,
All the Terellia tussilaginis i.ve seen pictures of, have red eyes. This one has bright green eyes. Don,t know if this is a variable feature though?

The suggestion was much appreciated. I didnt really have a clue where to start till you made the possible ID. You might be right. Maybe a fly expert might know if eye colour is a variable feature.
