| | 5 Damselflies & 1 dragonfly for ID Here I am again. I do enjoy this Penallta park that we go to on the weekends, always something new to see. But unless it's a bird I'm taking a photo of, I'm almost always stumped trying to ID it
Anyway, we found this secluded bramble covered area full of several types of damselflies. I'm hopeless with the blue ones but I think was able to ID the red one. Later on we saw an extremely large dragonfly, which despite my best attempts I've been unable to ID Any help gratefully appreciated! If any are unlikely to be able to ID for any reason let me know, thanks
Jen
Large Red Damselfly, female?

The 3 'blue' damselflies all appear to be female Azure although I can't see the pronotum well in one pic.
The 'pink' damselfly looks to be a male Azure.
The dragonfly is a teneral male Emperor.

| | | Re: 5 Damselflies & 1 dragonfly for ID Wint, that's extremely helpful, thank you! I never would've identified that dragonfly and I looked at the Emperor a lot but didn't think it was quite right. The 'teneral' part (lol had to look it up ) explains everything.
Also with those damselflies, I had my head spinning with those - and the confirmation on the red is also great, thanks! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
