| | | Re: Beetles, nymphs and a damselfly I think the damselfly is a female variable damselfly (Coenagrion pulchellum). I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! |

| | | Re: Beetles, nymphs and a damselfly Afternoon Seb,
The first beetle is a Silphidae member - could be Silphus atrata, but I'll leave that to someone else. The next beetle is the Cerambycid Grammoptera ruficornis.
Take care, Jason |

| no use to do so. You're right. But I guess the genus is called Silph a in Britain, too!? And we still call this beetle Phosphuga atrata, but this might be difference between Great Britain and Germany.
Regards
Klaas

| | | Re: Beetles, nymphs and a damselfly The slightly wavy line at the rear edge of the pronotum of the damselfly makes me think it is a blue-form female Azure (C.puella) rather than a Variable.
Here's a pic from the Gallery that shows well the rear edge of the pronotum in a female Variable. |

| | | Re: Beetles, nymphs and a damselfly So the majority are saying Azure female, with male colouration? What threw me is that I thought Azures have a u-shape to the second abdominal segment, and variables have a u-shape joined to a horizontal black line by a small vertical line (wikipedia describes it as a wine-glass shape). But in the Azure female images I have seen they appear to have this 'wine-glass' shape??? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
