Hello and ID help, please

Hi, I'm new to here so first of all hello.

I'm also fairly new to the addictive hobby of insect (and other invertebrates) photography and identification so will be avidly reading through to gain lots of tips.

As a sneaky way to fuel this addiction, I've offered to try and record some of invertebrate life for the conservation group that runs the local heath. Of course I've now come back with a stack of photos with no names. This site is being great so far but I think I'll need more help.

But, I'll start with just 2. Or possibly 1.

They were found very close together so I'm assuming they are the same at differing stages of development. Nearby was also this



I've been trawling through the (amazing!) photos in the Gallery and, by about halfway through, haven't seen anything like them. Could someone help, please?

Hello and welcome.

Your first two pictures are of the nymphs of "hoppers" (order Auchenorrhyncha) sap feeding bugs. Nymphs are tricky to ID so I'll leave that to someone more knowledgable.

The third shot is the exuvia (shed skin) of such a nymph.
