Certainly a specioes of bee in the genus Nomada. Looks very like N. goodeniana

This guy has yellow legs, all the pics I see of N. goodeniana have orange legs.

Any reason?

Variability perhaps? Wespenbienen: Nomada goodeniana

Yours are pretty orange on the upper surfaces

Just a quick tip for the future, Nige; hoverflies have much shorter antennae than bees.

OK, I know there are a couple of rather unusual hoverflies which do have longer antennae but still much shorter than the average bee/wasp.

There are a few other quite obvious differences but I find the antennae to usually be the simplest clue.
