S. Devon. Blackthorn lined path across farmland. 06/05/11.
The keys suggest Tenthredinidae (don't they always) but I can't follow the wing veins any further. One of the Tenthredo species might be a good guess. 
I was just wondering if, because it is such a striking design, anybody instantly recognises it. |

Thanks for the help. So at least I was on the right lines with Tenthredinidae. 
And your answer would explain why it was on a fern. I will have a deeper delve into this family. |

Strongylogaster multifasciata looks good. I must look at my ferns..  NatureSpot
