Hoverfly for ID Please
I spotted this hoverfly on a yellow flower (Hawksbit?) this morning (9th May 2011) by the side of a footpath in Northbourne East Kent.
Please can someone identify it for me?

You've got me stumped, Steve – I don't ever remember seeing one with these markings and that strikingly pale scutellum. I shall await the outcome of this with some anticipation!

Sphaerophoria sp. female. Not possible to give a species.

Afternoon Steve,

It's a female Sphaeophoria sp., and as such is unidentifiable. These are usually done by male genitalia.
