Nice find! I'd like to see one of these one day. I hear Berkshire is good for them.
Take care, Jason |

Take care, Jason | Common on some of the Surrey downs too; infact most places on chalk in the south. |

Roman Snail- Helix pomatia | Lovely snail C, well spotted. I'm more than a little thankful that they are so rare as, being an organic gardener, I feel obliged to dispatch snails in a "hands on" fashion. These animals are massive.

| | | Re: Roman Snail Thanks all.
Once I spotted this one, I realised there were loads of them.
The ground at this site is very chalkey.
I was surprised how big they are!
I shall add it to the Snail of the Day thread now then.

| | | Re: Roman Snail Fascinated to see your photos. I saw one of these today for the first time, but unfortunately didn't have my camera. Having looked it up I find it is a Roman Snail and, coincidentally, it was seen near Lullingstone Roman Villa! |
