I can't help with the ID but I have to say that has to be the most aggressive looking fly I've ever seen  I'm interested to know it's ID myself.

Tachina fera, the only Tachina sp. we have (so far). They are very photogenic.. nice shot.

Gray - Yes a tough looking character for sure - not easy to miss though and a bit of pig to photograph as it kept turning round in circles.
