Is this a Horned Treehopper?

S. Devon, 06/05/11. A blackthorn lined narrow lane across farmland.

I'm thinking Horned Treehopper - Centrotus cornutus but this is a new species for me so I would appreciate a more informed second opinion.

I don't anything about this species or whether there are any similar looking species which might cause confusion.

Just managed these 2 quick shots before it scampered off into the undergrowth.

Centrotus cornutus is right. Confusion more or less impossible.

That's because my photos were rubbish as usual

I found one of these a year ago and it was a first for me but I had great difficulty photographing it. Your photos are great.

Strangely, this seems a bit like waiting for a bus . . .

I had never seen one before either, then today, I found another at a different location. Yet to be edited, but it looks like I have managed a couple of better photos this time.

Certainly Centrotus - please do send details of this record to the Auchenorrhyncha Recording Scheme (Auchenorrhyncha Recording Scheme for Britain & Ireland) - it is one of a relatively small number of hoppers which are very easily identified

OK, Tristan, I will 'jump forward' in the editing priorities and check out today's photo, just for absolute confirmation, and send in the details.

I tried that recording site previously but could only see part of the first page.

Tried again with IE today and eventually downloaded some type of recording form but it has totally baffled me.

I can't understand how to make any entries onto the form or any other way of sending records to them.

However, I was intending to send these sightings to my county Recorder as well so it will probably be entered into the system from there.
