I suspect this too will stay as Dasysyrphus sp., as you need to see the lower-half below the eye-line.

Take care, Jason | Jez has posted a pic showing the face and it shows a dark stripe. Yes, this is Dasysyrphus venustus but as Roger has stated before, the taxonomists are looking at a split so all is unsure.

That is why pens were invented.  My ID books are full of scribbled additions and I produce my own 'Identification Guides' by printing out photos with notes attached. |
