Grasshopper for ID

Any grasshopper experts out there able to ID this small grasshopper
seen at College Lake, Tring on 2nd May 2011.

That I'm afraid, Gordon, is a juvenile which makes identification very tricky.

About the only positive thing to use is the angles of the keels on the thorax and even these are somewhat variable.

I would be tempted to suggest a Field Grasshopper (Chorthippus brunneus) although a Common Grasshopper (Omocestus viridulus) is possible along with a couple of other somewhat uncommon species.

Perhaps one of the real experts can shed more light on this one.
