fly ID
ID please of numerous blue-black flies recorded on gorse on Headley Heth Surrey today. TIA

Bibio marci (St Mark’s Fly) would be my guess - a lot of them about at the moment!

Afternoon NC,

I'm pretty sure it is St. Mark's Fly, Bibio marci - but would need higher-resolution images to confirm.
