| | | Bugs in conifer tree Hello all!
I can't attach a picture for technical reasons (ie ignorance). There is a large infestation of bugs marching up and down a conifer tree in my garden. I have just found an old thread on here about wasps and aphids, so I think I may have part of the answer. I know the tree has been full of wasps and flies in previous years, with a great deal of sticky stuff dropping to the ground below. The bugs look like aphids, with the pear-shaped body and rather long legs, no obvious wings. However, they are very large, about 5 mm long and 3 mm across. They are black, not particularly matt nor shiny, and move slowly.
Any i.d.s please, and are they harmful to the tree, or to us?
Thanks! |

Attach your photograph here: Login - Wild About Britain Pics
There are as ever a number of possibilities, a photo would be needed to stand a reasonable chance of ID.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Bugs in conifer tree Thank you Jason - yes, I guessed it would be tricky! I will do my best to send a photo. It will take a while! but I'm looking forward to your help! In the meantime they are making my neck hair stand up I'm afraid, 'cos they remind me of ticks!! |

| | | Re: Bugs in conifer tree OK. Me again. I have started a new thread as this is 'old' now and I would like some answers. Called it conifer tree insects and have managed to send pics. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
