| | | ID : Woodland Slug Species. Evening WAB,
The attached image shows one of two slug species seen by lifting logs in Stanniclift Copse (a woodland) near Doddiscombsleigh in Devon which is near the edge Dartmoor.
I would like to ask if anyone is able to point to a name for it if possible from the one image?
Regards,
Andrew. |

| | | Re: ID : Woodland Slug Species. It will be safer to label this as Arion ater agg as Arion ater and Arion rufus are indistinguishable externally. They need dissecting to tell them apart, the two also hybridise quite frequently as they are closely related, this also makes identification through dissection problematic...and then there is Arion vulgaris

| | | Re: ID : Woodland Slug Species. Oh dear, dissecting a slug does not really appeal yet as I am a lowlister!
Does dissection involve the common gardener's methods of stamping on them and seeing what squirts out?!
