Hoverfly with white abdomen side
This hoverfly steadfastly refused to come out and be photographed from another angle. Can anyone please explain the white on the abdomen?
It looks to me as though the normal markings are concealed by a white membrane.

Afternoon Steve,

It's a very gravid (egg-filled) female, and the white is the stretched membrane due to the large load. In wouldn't like to offer a possible suggestion as to ID on this occasion.
